Improving learning through technology

In the past, many schools have purchased ICT products and services in a piecemeal fashion, dependent on funding to serve their immediate needs. This has not provided a consistent level of service or the best value for money. The cost of ICT must now be met out of the core budget of schools, so it is essential to have a range of best value procurement arrangements in place.

Schools and local authorities are required to make all of their purchases in accordance with public procurement regulations and best value principles.
