Learning on Screen

The About Us page says, “Learning on Screen is a charity and membership organisation. We are experts in the use of moving image in education, delivering online academic databases, on demand video resources, training, information and advice. Our work is developed through communication with our members and through the findings of our specialist research unit, providing the higher and further education sector with trusted and scholarly audiovisual services.”

Film Education
This website uses film to support learning across a range of subjects and age groups. Its homepage says, “This website and its library of resources is accessible, free of charge, for teachers and their students across the UK.”

British Pathe
In happier times the British Pathe films were available for free to be used creatively via the regional grids for learning. Nowadays the clips can still be purchase but are available to watch for free at https://www.britishpathe.com The variety is astonishing and can deliver meaning where words are hard to find.
Africam
http://www.africam.com gives a class a chance to visit African countryside in real time. There are several webcams in parts of South East Africa which broadcast live. Because animals do not arrive or leave at convenient times it is possible to have email alerts and also a daily highlights video. When watching live the first 30 seconds after going to a site are advertisements. These are inevitably of the sort shown on commercial television but to be on the safe side it is best to activate the chosen camera a short time before it is needed so that advertisements are not seen
