BrainPop UK’s award winning animations and resources are recognised across the world as a unique and engaging teaching and learning resource, and are used by teachers across all subjects and at all levels of experience.
We understand classrooms, teachers, and children, and schools can be confident we know how to create rich digital content that motivates, encourages independent learning, and raises standards.
What is BrainPOP?
BrainPOP UK provides an engaging way for children between the ages of 7-14 to study new themes and for teachers to illustrate curriculum topics.
We present teachers and students with an accessible and integrated suite of digital content and tools, from animated videos to learning games to interactive quizzes, to learn and reinforce ideas, concepts, and facts.
“BrainPOP’s a truly unique resource that’s clear, concise and heaps of fun. I think it’s a brilliant classroom tool for engaging kids, and encourage our staff to use it whenever possible. We are a 1:1 iPad school, and the BrainPOP app is already on their ‘essential downloads’ list.”
Ian Pittman – Head of IT & Innovation
The site and app’s simple design presents a progressive pathway of learning via appropriate content for across Science; English; Maths; Humanities; PSHE; The Arts; and Design & Technology.
“BrainPOP comes with a whole host of resources, all of which we use. Obviously the movies are the main aspect, but we also use the resource packs of graphic organisers, the games are great quality and the quiz function is brilliant. I personally don’t think there is anything better to encourage fun, substantial, and real learning.”
Sarah Wright, Year 4 Teacher
BrainPOP’s short animations afford educators the ability to use highly focused learning objects across disciplines and in a variety of learning settings. Videos also address the issue of educators’ time constraints, both in preparation and in the classroom.
EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS
A safe space for exploration and discovery
Students look forward to BrainPOP’s animations and answering the quizzes help children to feel secure in their learning patterns. They enjoy the interaction between the two characters who keep the narration and explanation at the child’s level to keep them engaged. Pupils often return to discuss the subject with the teacher because they have new vocabulary and confidence gained from exposure to BrainPOP.
Knowledge, collaboration, understanding, recall
BrainPOP’s short animations afford educators the ability to use highly focused learning objects across disciplines and in a variety of learning settings. Videos also address the issue of educators’ time constraints, both in preparation and in the classroom.
The supplementary interactive activities and ‘best in class’ learning games help teachers monitor student understanding, providing feedback that can be used to improve teaching and learning.
The format of the video, related materials, and questions help drive collaboration through class discussion. Where a topic is complex, less able children are often pulled up to the next level because they can share ideas with others. Struggling children really find the visual stimulus helps significantly, especially with English as an Additional Language (EAL) students.
Motivation to learn
Independent learners are confident learners! Using BrainPOP resources at home and at school is popular with pupils as a way to find resources for project work.
Visual resources are easier to comprehend, particularly with children with low levels of literacy. BrainPOP helps students recall information and able to explain what they’ve learnt in more detail.
Opportunities to promote literacy
Engaging students with literacy across curriculum subjects is a priority for all schools. BrainPOP provides multiple possibilities to improve literacy knowledge using subtitles, vocabulary sheets, non-fiction texts, and predictive keyword search.
